Job Description

We are looking for a creative mechanics team leader to join our engineering team and lead the mechanics activity of our silicon photonics fiber-to-chip connectivity solution. You will be a key player of a growing team for the development and productization of our innovative PhotonicPlug platform for scalable silicon photonics packaging. Our engineering team is multi-disciplinary and integrates knowledge from various fields: photonics, electro and mechano-optics, mechanics, semiconductor, thermodynamics and materials. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative technology with an exceptional group of talented people in Jerusalem. If you are a self-starter who is looking for a challenge in the fields of electro-optics and semiconductors, this job is for you.

Qualifications

  1. B.Sc or M.Sc in mechanical engineering with at least 5 years of experience.
  2. In-depth understanding in the mechanics of electro-optics packaging and fiber assembly products.
  3. Significant experience in mechanical precision technologies, opto-mechanical design and manufacturing, thermal management, test and assembly, materials and adhesives.
  4. Experienced with semiconductor and electronics packaging technologies.
  5. Proven experience work with suppliers for prototyping and high-volume manufacturing.
  6. Experience in CAD and Solidworks.
  7. Experience in FEA software (e.g. Ansys) for thermal design, simulations and analysis.

Optics Team Lead

Teramount is an innovative and fast-growing startup in the field of silicon photonics that solves a major obstacle for the next-generation data center co-packaged switches.

Job Description and Responsibilities

We are looking for a senior electro-optics engineer who will manage the optics team and play a pivotal role in advancing Teramount’s optical solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for the architecture of Teramount’s optical design and photonic solutions, define fabrication tolerances and oversee optical R&D activities.

Your job includes, but not is limited to, the following tasks:

  1. Electro-Optics design, engineering and simulation of Termount’s packaging solutions.
  2. Data analysis of fabricated optics. It will be your responsibility to point out fabrication challenges and verify that outputs meet the defined requirements.
  3. Yield prediction and defining optical and mechanical tolerances.
  4. Plan, supervise and extract conclusions from R&D lab experiments. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the lab measurements are properly performed, flag problems and suggest solutions.
  5. Interact with different R&D teams (lab, mechanics, process?) and define targets (roadmap?) of the optical R&D process.
  6. Interact with vendors and service providers.
  7. Data analysis, presentations to team members and partners.

Qualifications:

  1. Msc or  PhD in physics: Electro-optics / Applied Physics – a must.
  2. 5+ years of electro-optics development experience.
  3. A Deep understanding of lenses and optical systems including geometric optics and physical optics – a must.
  4. A self- starter able to perform physical optical simulations with self-built tools and acquire new skills independently – a must.
  5. Scripting and simulation capabilities using tools such as Python or MATLAB – a must.
  6. Experience with Signal processing- a must? an advantage?
  7. Electro-optics hands-on lab experience.
  8. High analytical and troubleshooting capabilities – a must.
  9. Experience with optical simulations – a must.
  10. Experience with Zemax and/or Lumerical software- an advantage.
  11. High level mathematical skills – a must.
  12. Image processing skills- an advantage.
  13. Lab experience- an advantage.
  14. a team player who works well across disciplines- a must
  15. English proficiency- a must
