We are seeking an experienced Mechanics Assembly Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting sensitive mechanical and optical components with small tolerances. The successful candidate must exhibit a high level of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment. Proficiency in using specialized tools and instruments for mechanical assembly is essential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assemble and glue mechanical and optical components with high precision according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Test and troubleshoot mechanical systems to detect and resolve technical issues.
- Conduct experiments through visual inspections of components and assembled systems, to ensure they meet stringent quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, test results, and other documentation related to the assembly process.

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and creative Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team, working on the mechanical development of our fiber-to-chip connectivity solution for silicon photonics. This is a hands-on role supporting the PhotonicPlug platform—a novel approach to scalable and manufacturable photonic packaging.
As part of the team, you will contribute to the mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of high-precision micro-mechanical components for optical assemblies. You’ll gain exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept through to high-volume manufacturing, in close collaboration with experts in photonics, semiconductors, and thermal systems.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-moving startup and work at the intersection of mechanics, optics, and electronics.
Responsibilities
- Design and model mechanical components and opto-mechanical assemblies using CAD (SolidWorks)
- Support development of fiber alignment and packaging solutions for silicon photonics
- Perform tolerance analysis and contribute to DFM/DFX activities for high-precision parts
- Assist with thermal and structural simulations (using FEA tools such as Ansys)
- Support prototyping, lab validation, and mechanical testing of new assemblies
- Collaborate with suppliers for tooling, prototyping, and production-scale manufacturing
- Document and communicate design intent, validation results, and technical decisions
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Sc in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc a plus)
- 2+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in a precision or high-tech environment

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in conducting microscope scans, performing initial data analysis, and collaborating with our team. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for Incoming and Outgoing Quality Control processes, ensuring that all materials and final products meet the required specifications and standards.
